The Reel Deadly Film Festival is the first film festival geared for new and upcoming story tellers. The inaugural event will be held in Amiskwaciwâskahikan and will feature 10 films over two days with the goal of giving new directors a platform to tell their stories in a setting fit for the big film festivals.

We have an incredible opportunity to tell our stories here in Alberta with many of the award winning productions being made here, the Reel Deadly Film Festival aims to elevate our voices so we have the confidence to reach the same heights as big time directors and producers.

We invite all movie lovers of all stripes to attend our inaugural event happening this summer! While the stories being told at the RDFF are primarily Indigenous voices, we bring everyone together for the love of movies.

We believe that representation matters in cinema. Indigenous voices matter. Indigenous faces on camera matter. Our stories matter. The Reel Deadly Film Festival will help elevate our stories to the big screen.

Each day we will screen two short films, two documentaries, and one feature length film. The story tellers will then have the opportunity to interact with the audience members for a Q&A. Attendees of the film festival will have the opportunity to vote for their favourite films and at the end of the festival awards will be handed out to the fan favourites. Every story teller will receive mementos for being selected. T-shirts, a letter of recognition from the organizers and selection committee, and their films and posters will be promoted on all social media channels. Each selection will also receive the official Reel Deadly Film Festival laurel to display on their future movie posters.

We are also happy to welcome our selection committee members: two men and two women from varying backgrounds, all with a love for cinema, who graciously agreed to watch each entry and offer their valuable time to make the inaugural event a pleasant one.
