Name and Logo

Continuing with our identity, lets cover our name and logo. “Indigital” is a combination of Indigenous and Digital. We wanted to reflect that we are an Indigenous owned and operated company while telling potential clients what it is that we do. It wasn’t in the plans to use that name. We did go through a long process of thinking of names, googling them, and the name not making the cut due to it already being used. After a week of going over names that both reflect who we are and not already in use we actually gave up. That night a name came through the fog and it was almost as if an angelic choir accompanied it. We immediately opened google and typed in “Indigital Media” and there were no video production or photography companies using that name anywhere in North America. The next day we went to the registries to claim it and start the business without any complications!

Our logo was designed by Alfred Davidson IV (you can see his work here) and we wanted to incorporate Haida art and the eagle design in our logo. Alfred was very agreeable and attentive to our vision and produced the design in an acceptable timeline. We used the original design for about 6 months with the white background but we didn’t feel it reflected our brand entirely. Alfred granted us permission to alter his work to our fit our vision so we loaded it up into illustrator and got to work on reworking the logo. We settled on Sitka font and wanted our name right out front and settled on the logo as it is today. Big shout out to Alfred for being so kind as giving us permission to alter his work. Our brand would not be where it is today had he not done so.
